Cara melakukan noseko yaitu dengan meratakan gigi bagian depan, atas dan bawah sampai rata. Teknis pelaksanaan upacara adat ini sesuai dengan status sosial atau warisan yang diterimanya. Adapun tujuan dari nokeso yaitu untuk mengantar anak perempuan ke masa gadisnya yang bahagia tanpa gangguan mental dan fisik, serta harapan untuk pernikahan yang baik, umur yang panjang, rezeki yang berlimpah, maupun menjaga diri, tutur kata serta adat istiadatnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8648ba7ad3175d0899b886acd4aeeac8 wp-block-paragraph\">Upacara nokeso terdiri dari beberapa tahapan. Yang pertama yaitu anak perempuan akan dipingit di dalam songgi selama 3 hari. Kedua, songgi kemudian dibuka atau biasa disebut nosungge boco. Ketiga, anak perempuan akan dibawa dengan cara digendong ke sungai untuk dimandikan (nijunu) dan dibersihkan rambutnya (noisu). Setelahnya, akan didandani sesuai dengan ketentuan adat. Keempat, dilakukanlah acara menombak kerbau (manjaku). Berikutnya, anak perempuan akan dikelilingi oleh toposede (penyair\/penyanyi) sambil dilantunkan syair-syair dan lagu yang biasa disebut nosede. Terkahir, masuk ke acara utama yaitu meratakan gigi menggunakan batu asa yang dulunya digesekkan langsung ke gigi, namun saat ini diganti dengan menggigit batu asa. Kemudian gigi anak perempuan digesekkan dengan cincin dan emas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c0e22789a0337b0e39c8a4043fea689d wp-block-paragraph\">Nokeso mencerminkan keyakinan masyarakat Kaili tentang keselarasan antara fisik, spiritual, dan sosial. Perataan gigi bukan hanya untuk keindahan, tetapi memiliki makna yang lebih dalam:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-custom-1-font-size wp-elements-2a241eaf25dbf8d0a063d0959170f30b\">Pemutus Masa Kecil: mengurangi sifat kekanak-kanakan dan mempersiapkan diri menuju tanggung jawab dewasa.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-custom-1-font-size wp-elements-a33bfbc980afb2f0b29eb705e21c78e8\">Penanda Status Sosial: gigi yang rata menandakan kematangan dan kesiapan individu untuk terlibat dalam urusan komunitas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-custom-1-font-size wp-elements-f631e8fb9643ed972214e8c5e409e3ad\">Penyelarasan Kosmis: dipercaya dapat menyeimbangkan energi dalam tubuh dan membuka pintu kebijaksanaan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-44398097dbff8366918a7b6bf8731e64 wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Nokeso is a life-cycle ceremony of the Kaili people, marking the transition of a young girl into adulthood or the onset of puberty. The ritual is performed by flattening the front teeth\u2014both upper and lower\u2014until they become even. The technical procedures of this ceremony vary according to one\u2019s social status or inherited traditions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-31003b4c55a8c96668f3840200a83e17 wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The purpose of nokeso is to guide a girl into a joyful and harmonious maidenhood, free from mental and physical disturbances, while also expressing hopes for a good marriage, long life, abundant fortune, and the ability to uphold proper conduct, speech, and customary values<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a01c335a2af9ebb62b771bdefc59cb96 wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The nokeso ceremony consists of several stages. First, the girl is secluded inside a songgi for three days. Second, the songgi is opened, a process known as nosungge boco. Third, the girl is carried to the river to be bathed (nijunu) and to have her hair cleansed (noisu). Afterward, she is dressed and adorned according to customary requirements. Fourth, a buffalo-spearing ritual (manjaku) is performed. Next, the girl is surrounded by toposede (poets\/singers) who recite verses and sing ceremonial songs known as nosede. Finally, the ceremony enters its main stage: the flattening of the teeth using a sharpening stone. In the past, the stone was rubbed directly against the teeth, but today the girl bites the stone instead. The process concludes with the teeth being rubbed with a ring and gold.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-72987bd5418eb3f3676d5601edfad67f wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Nokeso reflects the Kaili community\u2019s belief in the harmony between the physical, spiritual, and social realms.
